MONTACARGAS SHELF
“Montacargas” by RIO Estudio is a marble shelf with cast aluminum fittings, held in place by a suspension mechanism. This creation is a testament to the engineering roots of its founder, Patricio Robleda, who studied civil engineering at UNAM. The piece draws inspiration from heavy machinery used in construction, incorporating concepts such as kinematics, balance points, mobility, and mechanics—branches of physics applied in engineering. The shelf sways gently, creating a sense of lightness in the space, while also resembling a swing, evoking a playful and interactive elegance.
